Event Notes

Guidance on Attire

Step into an evening of refined elegance along Victoria’s storied Inner Harbour. Our palette takes inspiration from the Pacific Northwest coast: deep forest tones, soft sage, muted lavender, sea blues, champagne, antique silver, and luminous gold.

Ladies are invited to wear floor-length gowns with hemlines gracefully extending to the ankle, crafted from silk, satin, chiffon, velvet, crepe, or other formal fabrics. Black gowns are warmly embraced. We recommend that ladies pair their gowns with an elegant wrap or shawl, as June evenings tend to turn refreshingly cool once the sun sets. We encourage timeless sophistication; bold colors, daytime prints and casual textures are best reserved for another occasion.

Gentlemen are invited to wear tuxedos.

Footwear completes the look: leather dress shoes, refined evening heels, or elegant formal flats. We simply ask that casual shoes, boots, wedges, sandals, or sneakers be reserved for another setting.

If traditional Black tie attire is not accessible, a tailored black suit or full-length formal gown that reflects the elegance of the evening will be welcomed.

We are grateful for your collaboration in creating a timeless and elegant celebration.

Guidance on Attendance

To ensure a seamless and joyous celebration, we kindly ask all guests to honor the following:

  • This is an adults-only affair. We warmly request that children remain at home.
  • Pets are not permitted, as this is a formal black tie occasion. We thank you for your understanding.
  • At this time, no additional guests or plus-ones are invited; only those listed on your invitation and RSVP may attend. We promise to seat you among delightful company.
  • If your spouse or domestic partner was inadvertently omitted from your invitation, please notify us so we may ensure their inclusion.

Your presence will make the evening complete. We look forward to this celebration of love, joy, and dear friends.

Victoria, British Columbia

A short guide for our guests

Getting There

Victoria is located on the southern tip of Vancouver Island, just north of the U.S.–Canada border and across the water from Seattle.

For long-distance guests traveling by plane, we recommend connecting through Seattle Tacoma International Airport or Canadian airports such as Vancouver (YVR), Calgary (YYC), or Toronto (YYZ) to Victoria International Airport (YYJ), approximately a 30 minute drive from Victoria’s Inner Harbour.

Guests traveling from Vancouver or Seattle can fly directly into Victoria’s Inner Harbour via seaplane.

Guests traveling from Seattle can take the FRS Clipper from the Seattle Waterfront directly to Victoria’s Inner Harbour.

Additionally, guests traveling from the Olympic Peninsula can take the MV Coho ferry from Port Angeles directly to Victoria’s Inner Harbour.

Please remember to bring a valid passport and allow time for customs and border processing. Also make sure you are aware of reasons Canada may deny you entry.

Where to Stay

We are able to offer discounted rates at both the Fairmont Empress and the Marriott Inner Harbour for our guests. Please see the details below for booking information.

Fairmont Empress Conveniently located in the middle of the harbour, the iconic Fairmont Empress Hotel serves as an emblem of Victoria itself. This is our favorite hotel in the world, we strongly recommend staying here if you are able. You can book a discounted rate by using this special link.
Marriott Inner Harbour The Marriott Inner Harbour is very close to the Fairmont Empress, just two blocks away. We are able to offer a discounted rate here as well, by entering Group Code NJWNJWA or booking via this special link.

Things to Do

Victoria is one of our favorite places in the world and we’re excited to share it with you. It’s a city defined by its natural beauty, rich history, and thoughtful culture. Whether you’re here for a short visit or a longer stay, there’s plenty to explore, but these are some of our favorite ways to spend time in Victoria:

Eat & Drink

  • Bodega – Spanish tapas, incredible vibe, great sherry (we go here every single time)
  • Nubo Japanese Tapas – Asian small plates, LOVE the Goma-ae (we go here every single time)
  • Eva Schnitzelhaus – Fantastic alpine food. Schnitzel, raclette, spaetzle
  • Hank's *A Restaurant – hole-in-the-wall elevated dining, order the tasting menu
  • The Churchill – Like beer? Go here. 50 beers on tap, also has full bar and pub food
  • Tora Tiki – Excellent tiki bar, great ambience
  • Bard & Banker – Historic pub with live music every night. Like stepping into a time portal

Coffee/Tea & Snacks

Our Story

Nicole and Jack met long ago in 2011 when he accidentally spilled some water on her at the bus stop. A clumsy introduction, but a fortunate one. They spent the next few months playing video games, talking for hours, and slowly falling in love. She was effortlessly cool, funny, and incredibly caring. Fourteen-year-old Jack, however, had some growing up to do. Nicole loved with a steadiness Jack had not yet grown into, and immaturity interrupted what might have been.

They grew apart for almost a decade, forging their unique identities and lived experiences, but fate had other plans. They ran into one another with improbable frequency: serendipitous encounters at restaurants, airports, and all around town were comical at times, but became a comforting constant in their lives. Senior year of college was the most unlikely of them all, when they had weekly back-to-back meetings in perhaps the most obscure classroom on UT campus, tucked away in the corner of a building no student ever goes to. That's when the walls came down and Jack started looking forward to their hallway chats.

In April of 2019, Nicole agreed to a second first date, and they hit the ground running. Since then, they’ve weathered a global pandemic, moved in together, survived Snowmageddon and boil notices, crossed state lines more than once, changed careers, and collected countless adventures. Through it all, they've chosen one another and look forward to building an incredible life together.
